Long COVID can lead to a wide range of physical symptoms, which may last for a prolonged period. Physical symptoms and the impact they may have on a person’s daily life may contribute to emotional distress. One of the main difficulties people with Long COVID may experience is fatigue, leading to fluctuations of their energy levels across time. This may cause people to feel concerned about dips in energy levels, especially after activities they would have done. The “Long COVID: Moving forwards” webinar encourages people with Long COVID to start tracking their energy levels and use pacing, a Cognitive Behavioural technique, to find a balance in their day to day activities to improve their wellbeing.
This webinar provides tools and techniques that people with Long COVID can use to understand changes in their energy levels, manage other’s expectations of the recovery process and cope with setbacks. The webinar includes information about how to access further support offered by Hertfordshire and Mid Essex HPFT IAPT Services.

- Self-managing the physical symptoms of Long COVID: A brief overview of the various ways to self-manage the physical symptoms of Long COVID and the physical support available.
- The Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) approach: An exploration of the primary difficulties (Long COVID symptoms) and secondary difficulties (thoughts, emotions, and behaviours) experienced by people with Long COVID, as well as the CBT approach to understanding the impact of Long COVID on emotional wellbeing.
- Noticing energy levels and pacing: An introduction to the tools and techniques used to monitor daily energy levels, track where it is being used, and how activity schedules can be used to pace and balance energy output across the week.
- Managing other’s reactions and coping with setbacks: Exploring ways that those with Long COVID may find helpful in managing the expectations of other’s regarding their recovery, as well as, asking for support and coping with setbacks.
